Hello Friends
It is good to be with
you in dialogue and friendship as the pages of our website unfold before
you. Thank you for your interest in the Sisters of St. Basil The Great.
Whether you entered this site by design or out of curiosity you are
about to take a journey into our lives. The subsequent pages capture the
essence of who we are and what we do. You will notice that we are just
ordinary people trying to do extraordinary things ... simply trying to
bring deeper meaning into the everyday experience of life for ourselves
and those we serve.
As members of the
Ukrainian Catholic Church, our Eastern Byzantine Spirituality is
intertwined with the theme of light and the Light that we follow is
Christ. This rich heritage is evident in our deep prayer life both
private and communal as the Sisters gather daily to pray the prayer of
the church, Matins and Vespers, as well as participate in the Divine
Liturgy (Mass).
Some
out-of-the-ordinary good things are happening here. For example, over
the past several years our main focus has been the building of our Holy
Trinity Chapel which draws its inspiration from the traditional village
church found in eighteenth and nineteenth century Ukraine, and the
establishment of the first Spirituality Center in the United States to
focus on Basilian and Eastern Spirituality. This was both a challenging
and rewarding experience. Now we concentrate on sharing our Eastern
Byzantine Spirituality and our hospitality with others.
We have attempted
through this website to introduce ourselves to you. We hope that it
invites you not only to surf these pages but to partake in our programs
and the space that provides an opportunity for you to nurture your own
spiritual life. If after viewing this website, you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to contact us.
May the Light of
Christ shine in your life always.
Sincerely,
Sister
